The 4-1-1 On Microneedling

By now you’ve likely heard the buzz about microneedling. And like many you aren’t sure exactly what it is or why anyone would choose to “Needle” anything voluntarily. We get asked about microneedling daily so here’s the 4-1-1:

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a collagen induction therapy that inserts fine needles into the skin creating tiny invisible puncture wounds in the top layer of the skin, causing the skin to stimulate collagen as the body works to repair and heal itself naturally.

What makes our microneedling unique?

We offer radio frequency paired with all microneedling to address the tissue on a deeper level than microneedling alone. Giving us the ability to lessen scars and tighten skin more effectively. The radio frequency also allows for less bleeding, a welcomed bonus for busy patients who are looking for results with minimal downtime.

What does it treat?

Microneedling minimizes fine lines and signs of aging, while improving the appearance of scars and acne.

Does it hurt?

If the idea of needles sounds extremely terrifying, know that it’s more comparable to pin-pricks that are skin deep and local anesthesia is applied.  Many patients feel little discomfort during the procedure. Patients who do experience discomfort typically find it to be minimal and short lasting.  However, we do remind all patients individual tolerance levels vary.

What about down time?

There’s little downtime associated with microneedling. The first few days you may look a little pink as your skin begins to heal. If possible you’ll want to be makeup free for at least the first 24 hours. You’ll also want to avoid gyms or saunas for at least 24 hours as your skin begins to heal.

When will I see results?

As the skin repairs itself you should begin to see improved texture within a week. Patients with deep acne scaring will need multiple sessions to achieve noticeable improvement and should see results in around 3 months. We recommend all patients schedule 3 to 4 sessions 3 weeks apart for optimal results.
