What Is PRP ?

July 24, 2018 Aesthetics

PRP is becoming increasingly popular not only in the cosmetic world, but plasma rich platelets (stem cells) are now being used for a variety of reasons to rebuild and repair damage in everything from spinal issues, tennis elbow, knees and more. PRP is a concentration of platelets injected into a particular area to promote repair and the growth of fresh tissue. Platelets are rich in proteins called growth factors that have proven to be effective when it comes to healing.

PRP begins by collecting blood. The blood sample is then placed into a centrifuge allowing the PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) to separate from the other components in the blood. The concentrated PRP is then injected into the site needing repair. The PRP’s growth factors begin to repair tissue and stimulate collagen production.

PRP with Microneedling

We utilize the powerful properties of PRP when performing microneedling for patients who wish to combine microneedling with PRP. Microneedling slightly damages skin allowing for the skin to begin to repair and heal with the stimulation of fresh collagen. With the added enhancement of PRP results are strengthened.
